3rd Place — Primera Hackatón Samatech

3rd Place — Primera Hackatón Samatech
July 1, 2026
The Primera Hackatón Samatech was a milestone for Santa Marta: the first hackathon in the city's history. The numbers tell the story of its ambition:
  • 70 builders selected to participate
  • Teams of 5, formed to mix skills and backgrounds
  • 30 hours of non-stop building
  • +50M COP in prizes and benefits
  • 20+ mentors who traveled from all over Colombia to guide the teams
More than a competition, it was a statement: technology has a seat at the table in Santa Marta's future.
TODO(rulo): confirm the exact event dates and add the official event link.
TODO(rulo): describe the problem your team chose to tackle — what was the challenge statement, and why did your team pick it?
TODO(rulo): name the project and describe what it does, the stack you used, and add a demo link or repository if there is one.
TODO(rulo): describe what you owned during the 30 hours — architecture decisions, the frontend build, integrations, the pitch?
Out of 14 teams of builders competing for 30 hours straight, our team took 3rd place. Standing on that stage in Santa Marta — at the city's first-ever hackathon — with four teammates who had been strangers two days earlier, is a memory I'll keep for a long time.
TODO(rulo): add your teammates' names (and links, if they want) to give proper credit — and replace this note with a line about them.
Thirty hours is not enough time to build something perfect — and that's exactly the point. A hackathon forces you to make the trade-offs that senior engineering is really about: scope ruthlessly, ship the core, and communicate what matters in the pitch.
TODO(rulo): add 2-3 specific lessons from your experience — technical, teamwork, or pitching.
